Saw a few people asking for a link/source, so just thought I’d post this.
“The life of controversial club owner and porn magnate Paul Raymond – the self-styled King Of Soho – is already being brought to the screen by Michael Winterbottom, with Steve Coogan as Raymond. But that looks set to face a challenge (in more than one sense) from Raymond’s son, Howard, who appears to have secured the services of one Tom Hiddleston to play Paul in his take on the man’s life.”
So this is different from the one that’s in post-production, and no, Tom isn’t playing porn star.
Tom Hiddleston, Hateful “Avengers” Villain, Steals the Show
While Marvel fans will pack theaters this weekend to see The Avengers for stars like Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, the reason these heroes must pool their superpowers is to fight the perilous Loki, played by British actor Tom Hiddleston.
It’s probably old news, but if anyone’s interested I’ve stumbled upon the pressbook for the film. From what I’ve seen (don’t have the time to read it all now since it’s like, 40 pages long) it features a very detailed synopsis, informations on the production, music and recreation of post WWII Britain, plus some interesting bits on the cast and the crew.
On a random note, it’s amusing how there seems to be a certain reticence in admitting that yeah, the guy who plays Freddie Page actually got famous for playing a super villain in a comic book movie.
Tom Hiddleston talks Thor 2
Superhero nemesis Tom Hiddleston might be gearing up to sell the upcoming Avengers movie, but he also has one eye on a returning role in Thor 2, sequel to the movie which made him a star.
Sadly, he won’t be joined by director Kenneth Branagh, who has opted not to return to the director’s chair for a second outing. However, Hiddleston is confident that Marvel will have a contingency plan at the ready…
Tom Hiddleston is relieved to have found fame now - because it’s given him time to grow.
Despite acting for over 10 years, the British star - who’s up for the Bafta Orange Wednesdays Rising Star award - has only just been launched into the spotlight following recent turns in Kenneth Branagh’s superhero movie Thor, Woody Allen’s romantic drama Midnight In Paris and Terence Davies’ The Deep Blue Sea.
“It feels very rewarding because it didn’t happen instantly. I’m very pleased it has taken me a while - it hasn’t been easy,” he said.
“The fact that it has taken me 10 years, I have had to question myself and do a lot of soul-searching about why I am really doing this in the course of that time. I want to contribute to a collective artistic understanding of the world and I get to explore - every role is like visiting a new country.”
Tom admitted he had been up for various high-profile roles in the past but lost out to bigger names.
“Some people are under the impression that it’s all plain sailing but there has been some rejection along the way. It’s a tough profession but it’s also the best job in the world,” he added.
The 30-year-old’s latest role sees him playing ex-RAF pilot Freddie Page opposite Rachel Weisz.
“Freddie seems like a very charming and dashing pilot and he is thrillingly alive. Hester falls for his vitality, passion and his charm. Every fibre of him is alive,” he explained.
It’s been out there for a couple of weeks, I know, but I only found it today.
